ABOUT

Hello, I'm Jamie Irving.

My interest in art and design started from a very young age, I've always loved to draw and take pleasure in putting pen to paper (or more often than not an iPad nowadays). Growing up in Farnborough (UK) and spending a short period of my childhood in Abu Dhabi (UAE) provided me with a viewpoint early on that there is more of the world to be seen and influenced by, than where you are born.

Studying Graphic Design at UCA for a foundation diploma then on to the University of the West of England in Bristol where I received a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design, has not only furthered my skills using tools both digital and practical, but also taught me useful lessons in how to view the world from designers perspective, as well as the need to keep up with current issues.

I have always leaned towards the more illustrative side of graphic design, perhaps  this interest was due to seeing illustrations in books such as Quentin Blake's in the Roald Dahl books, or perhaps it came from watching endless cartoons. Most of my influences nowadays come from other forms of art, such as music, skateboarding, film, nature, all of which are personal interests of mine and are arguably all linked to each other. These influences are what has fuelled my ambition to pursue mediums such as animation, illustration and photography further and be able to create work that exhibits my interests.

Currently I am trying to keep busy and motivated during the lockdown due to the COVID-19 virus. I am always looking for more projects to undertake, whether it be illustration, animation or graphic design based, creativity is a great source of pleasure. Stay safe : )
